Cambridge, Mass. - Akamai Technologies (NASD: AKAM), a provider of technology for delivering online rich media, transactions and applications, has signed an agreement to pay $95 million in cash for acerno, a New York-based provider of consumer behavior analytics technology.

Founded in 2004, acerno uses anonymous consumer shopping data from product manufacturers and retailers to predict what products or services they are interested in buying.

Akamai said that acerno's technology will complement the ability of its Advertising Decision Solutions unit to incorporate real-time anonymous Web browsing information with anonymous online purchasing data from advertisers' websites to present the most relevant ads.
