Los Gatos, Calif. - Online DVD rental service Netflix (NASD: NFLX) has revealed that it expects 500,000 of its 8.7 million subscribers to receive their movie rentals on Blu-ray disc in the third quarter, Reuters reported. The company recently added a $1 surcharge to its monthly membership fees for those subscribers who wished to receive their rentals in Blu-ray format. The company made the announcement in its third quarter earnings report, in which it said profit rose 30% from a year ago, but also lowered its subscriber projections again for the year.
