New York - Blip.tv, a distributor of original Web video shows, has raised an undisclosed sum of new funding, from Bain Capital Ventures.

Founded in 2005, New York-based Blip.tv distributes 37,000 Web shows on its own site, and via partners including iTunes, AOL and Verizon.

Blip content collectively attracted 51 million views in September.

The company recently helped distribute Michael Moore's new documentary, "Slacker Uprising," for free online.

Blip.tv will use the new funds to add infrastructure to its distribution network, ramp up show sponsorships, and to develop new advertising technology.
