Los Angeles - The BlackBerry Partners Fund, established with $150 million to be granted to developers working on applications for BlackBerry smartphones, has awarded $150,000 each to three companies -- two of which are developing music applications for the platform, MocoNews reported.

The Strands Social Player counts a catalog of over 6 million songs as streaming previews, and offers song recommendations and social networking elements.

The Nobex Radio Companion includes a network of some 2,700 online radio stations -- more than 100 of which are playable on BlackBerries -- and includes links to purchase songs.

All three winners, including local search tool developer Poynt, are now entered in the fund's Jump Start program.
