Los Angeles - News Corp.'s (NYSE: NWS) MySpace online social network on Wednesday touted the results of a survey it commissioned from The Nielsen Company, which found its site is the most frequently cited Web source of information for movies among consumers 15-24 years old.

Twenty-nine percent of this age demographic cited MySpace as their first source for movie information, beating Yahoo (23%), Google (23%) and AOL (14%).

Among the 15-34 age demographic, MySpace tied for first place with Yahoo (25%).

Additionally, 46% of 15-24 year-olds, and 44% of the 15-34 age demographic who said they viewed information and/or ads for movies on the Web saw those promotions on MySpace.

Overall, the survey found that 70% of consumers ages 15-24 and 62% of consumers ages 15-34 reported having an active MySpace profile.

"The Nielsen study shows that if you want to reach a passionate movie audience, MySpace is the place to focus your efforts," said Jeff Berman, president of sales and marketing at MySpace.

"Creating a central point to drive your audience to before your movie opens is paying off in ticket sales and awareness for our movie clients. MySpace has fast become the world's largest movie influencer site."
