Belgium Outlaws Video Game Rentals

Authored by Mark Hefflinger on October 31, 2008 - 6:34am.

Brussels - The Belgian government has banned video game rentals in the country, following complaints from industry trade group the Belgian Entertainment Association that rentals were cannibalizing sales, Kotaku reports.

The outright ban follows a move in June to prohibit retailers from adding any new titles to their rental sections, while allowing them to continue renting existing titles.

As of December 1, however, retailers will no longer be able to rent any video game titles to consumers.
