Sacramento, Calif. - Concert promoter and live venue owner Live Nation (NYSE: LYV) announced on Friday that it has donated $50,000 to the No on Prop. 8 campaign in California, which is fighting to defeat the ballot measure that would eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry in the state.

"Live Nation has always offered equal rights and benefits to our employees' same-sex partners," said John Vlautin, senior vice president of communications for Live Nation.

"It is in this spirit that we have made the decision to donate $50,000 to the No on Prop. 8 campaign."

Other digital media firms to oppose Prop. 8 include Apple (NASD: AAPL), which donated $100,000, and Google (NASD: GOOG), which made a public policy statement opposing Prop. 8, while founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin contributed $40,000 and $100,000, respectively.
