San Francisco - Business-focused online social network LinkedIn on Wednesday announced that it is laying off 10% of its staff, or about 36 employees, in a move that will see the company refocus on the most profitable areas of its business.

San Francisco-based LinkedIn counts 30 million members, who earn an average of $110,000 a year.

The company announced last month that it raised $22.7 million in new financing; LinkedIn also raised $53 million in its fourth round of funding in June.
