WSJ: Dell Scraps Plan to Launch Digital Music PlayerAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on November 10, 2008 - 1:12pm.
New York - PC and peripherals maker Dell (NASD: DELL) has abandoned plans to launch a digital music player in time for the holiday shopping season, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing a person familiar with the matter. The company acquired Zing, a maker of wireless-enabled software for portable devices, last August. The Journal's source said that while Dell has decided to shelve plans to launch a music player indefinitely, it will go ahead with plans to release the Zing media jukebox software.
