Malibu, Calif. - Film studio Red Eagle Entertainment on Wednesday announced the launch of a new video game studio business, Red Eagle Games, and the acquisition of the game rights to author Robert Jordan's "The Wheel of Time" fantasy novel series.

Red Eagle plans to release a feature film based on the first novel in the series, "The Eye of the World."

The company will also release a line of standalone Wheel of Time games for various platforms, as well as a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game.

Jordan's Wheel of Time books have sold about 44 million copies to date worldwide, and have been translated into 24 languages.
