Research Triangle Park, N.C. - Digitalsmiths, a provider of broadband video indexing, analytics, and publishing technology, announced on Thursday that it has closed a $12 million second round of financing.

New investor .406 Ventures was joined by return backers The Aurora Funds and Chrysalis Ventures.

North Carolina-based Digitalsmiths offers Hollywood studios, video sites, media companies and advertisers tools to help monetize video content and automatically target ads.

The company will use the fund to accelerate product development.
