Santa Clara, Calif. - Atypon Systems, a provider of software and hosting services to electronic publishers, said on Monday that it has acquired Macrovision's (NASD: MVSN) subscription e-commercer unit eMeta.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

eMeta provides access control, subscription management and commerce software.

"This acquisition expands the range of services we can offer to our existing market while at the same time allowing us to sell our technology services to a wider range of publishers," said Georgios Papadopoulos, the CEO of Atypon, which now has more than 100 employees in four offices.

Macrovision has also sold off its TV Guide Magazine and Trymedia game distribution service this year.
