Los Angeles - Intel has provided an undisclosed amount of
funding to back a community animation project, Mass Animation, which will
produce a five-minute film by outsourcing over 100 animation shots to volunteer
animators found online, VentureBeat reported.
"Live Music" was
written by former Sony Pictures Digital head Yair Landau, and features musical
performances from Steve Vai and Ann Marie Calhoun.
Animators chosen to help
work on the film, which is intended to be screened in theaters before a
first-run movie, will each receive a credit and $500.
