Seattle - Amazon.com (NASD: AMZN) on Tuesday announced the launch of CloudFront, a new self-service, pay-as-you-go content delivery network (CDN) unit of its Amazon Web Services division.

CloudFront can integrate with Amazon's S3 storage service, and will provide traditional CDN services -- which increase the speed at which content is delivered across the Internet -- with no up-front commitments or long-term contracts.

The company said that customers of its new CloudFront service include social games distributor Playfish, and online store Woot; Amazon Web Services claims over 440,000 registered developers.
