MPAA Targets Fan-Edited Films Portal Fanedit.orgAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on November 24, 2008 - 9:42am.
Los Angeles - The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) recently threatened legal action against Fanedit.org, a site where movie aficionados post their own painstakingly-edited versions of their favorite movies and trade them with others, TorrentFreak reported.
Launched in 2006, Fanedit.org has to this point not drawn much
attention from the studios, aside from Lucasfilm, which largely tolerated the
not-for-profit fan activities -- even though there were some 80 versions of
"Star Wars" titles available through the site.
