MPAA Targets Fan-Edited Films Portal Fanedit.org

Los Angeles - The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) recently threatened legal action against Fanedit.org, a site where movie aficionados post their own painstakingly-edited versions of their favorite movies and trade them with others, TorrentFreak reported.

Launched in 2006, Fanedit.org has to this point not drawn much attention from the studios, aside from Lucasfilm, which largely tolerated the not-for-profit fan activities -- even though there were some 80 versions of "Star Wars" titles available through the site.

The most popular such film was "The Phantom Edit," a version of "The Phantom Menace" downloaded millions of times that, among other things, largely removed the character Jar Jar Binks.

Fanedit.org has in recent days been asked by the MPAA to take down a tracker for the BitTorrent file-sharing network with links to fan-edited films that it had been hosting, and also removed several pages of links to "fanedits" on the Rapidshare free file-hosting service.

About Fanedits

if the MPAA sees this they can suck on my left nut, why don't you A-holes stop bothering devoted fans and let them have fun...the harder you make it for fans the more they will find ways around you...in the end you'll lose anyway.
