New York - Publisher Random House announced on Monday that it will expand its catalog of digital books by nearly 7,000 over the next several months, eventually offering a total of around 15,000 titles, the Associated Press reported.

"More people everyday are enjoying reading in the electronic format and Random House wants to extend our reach to them with more of our books," said Random House CEO Markus Dohle.

Matt Shatz, the company's vice president of digital operations, also told AP that e-book sales have increased by triple-digit percentages this year, thanks in part to Amazon's Kindle device.
