Shanda Invests in Two Chinese Online Game Communities

Shanghai - Chinese online games purveyor Shanda Interactive Entertainment said that its Shanda Games unit has made investments in two online gaming community operators, Shanghai Wei Lai and Shanghai Cai Qu.

The amounts of the investments were not disclosed.

Shanghai Wei Lai was founded in 2006 and offers titles such as "Travian" and "OGAME," while Shanghai Cai Qu, also founded in 2006, offers the casual game title "Ge Zi Ke."

"We are pleased that Shanda Games has further diversified its content offering by establishing partnerships with Shanghai Wei Lai and Shanghai Cai Qu, demonstrating the effectiveness of its multi-channel sourcing strategies," said Shanda chairman and CEO Tianqiao Chen.

"Shanda will continue to work with outstanding companies to foster the long term development of the interactive entertainment industry."
