iTunes Store 2008 Chart-Toppers: Coldplay, Leona Lewis

Los Angeles - Apple (NASD: AAPL) has provided some details of the top-selling albums and songs of the year at its iTunes Store, revealing that Coldplay's "Viva la Vida" album and Leona Lewis' song "Bleeding Love" were the most popular downloads of 2008, the Associated Press reported.

A publicist for Coldplay told AP that more than 500,000 of the over 2 million copies of the band's album were sold digitally, mostly through iTunes, while J Records told AP that the Lewis single sold 3.2 million digital downloads.

Other top-selling albums on iTunes this year included Jack Johnson's "Sleep Through the Static"; the "Juno," "Once" and "Across the Universe" soundtracks; Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter III"; and Sara Bareilles' "Little Voice."

Coldplay also scored the second top-selling song of the year on iTunes, with "Viva la Vida"; other songs in the top ten included Flo Rida's "Low" and Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl."
