Burbank, Calif. - The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) announced on Monday that it will acquire the outstanding shares of pan-European kids entertainment company Jetix Europe that it does not already own, for about $14 per share.

Following the transaction, Disney will own 96% of Jetix Europe, but plans to obtain full ownership through statutory buy-out proceedings, before seeking to terminate Jetix's listing on the Euronext Amsterdam exchange.

Disney originally acquired an interest in Jetix Europe (formerly Fox Kids Europe) when it purchased Fox Family Worldwide from News Corp. (NYSE: NWS) in 2001.

The company's TV programming, geared towards kids ages 6-14, reaches a combined 137 million households in 58 countries.
