Los Angeles - Emotive Communications, a developer of smart media applications for mobile entertainment, announced on Wednesday that it has raised a $6.25 million second round of venture capital financing, led by the Mayfield Fund.

Previous backers D. E. Shaw Ventures and Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments also participated in the round.

In addition to the funding round, Los Angeles-based Emotive also announced its acquisition of Sennari Entertainment, a developer of networked mobile games.

Emotive says its RingJam "push-ringtone" product is in pre-deployment trials with major wireless carriers in the U.S. and elsewhere.

The company said it will use RingJam in tandem with Sennari's mobile customer relationship management and loyalty program, used in prize-play gaming, micropayments and virtual currency transactions.
