Washington - A recent survey by Nielsen, the large media rating service, has found that Washington has the largest percentage of HDTV users of all large markets in the country, with a 31.1% penetration rate.

DC was followed by Boston (30.5%), New York (30.2%), Seattle-Tacoma (29.8%) and Philadelphia (29.1%).

Detroit had the lowest rate at 20.9%.

"With nearly a quarter of homes equipped with high definition televisions, the demand for high definition content will only increase," said Steve McGowan, senior vice president of client research initiatives for Nielsen, in an article by Mediaweek.
