Los Angeles
- DVD sales were down 9% in 2008, a year that saw the entire home video market
decline in value by 5.5% to $22.4 billion, Variety reported, citing data from
market research firm Digital Entertainment Group.
The overall decline was the
largest-ever registered by DEG.
On a brighter note, DEG reports that Blu-ray
spending was up threefold in 2008, to $750 million.
Over 9.6 million Blu-ray
players have been sold through 2008, including 3 million in the fourth quarter.
