New York - Motionbox, a provider of video hosting and sharing services, announced on Thursday that it has closed a $6 million third round of financing, led by Constellation Ventures.

Previous investors Canaan Partners and SAS Investors also participated in the round.

The company also said it has promoted COO Josh Grostein to chief executive; founder and former CEO Chris O'Brien will remain as chairman and EVP of strategy and corporate development.

New York-based Motionbox offers a free video hosting and sharing service, as well as a premium version that offers HD playback and sharing, and unlimited archival storage and download capabilities.
