Framingham,
Mass. - Bose Corp., the maker of
audio entertainment equipment, plans to cut about 1,000 jobs, or 10% of its
total workforce, according to published reports.
"We have been staffed for
a growing economy, not a global recession," Carolyn Cinotti, a company
spokeswoman, said in a statement.
The job cuts are expected to occur in manufacturing
and in the company's Framingham,
Mass. headquarters.
Bose was
founded in 1964 and is privately held.
