Washington - Barack Obama has agreed to a security compromise that will allow him to continue using his BlackBerry, the Associated Press reported.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said that the compromise, with an unspecified party, "allows him to stay in touch with senior staff and a small group of personal friends."

Under the deal, Obama has vowed to limit his use of the wireless device, which has had its security beefed up.

His emails also may be subject to the Presidential Records Act, a law that requires the National Archives to preserve all presidential records.
