New York  - MTV's former President Christina Norman is named CEO of Discovery Communications' (NASD: DISCA) forthcoming Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). Ms. Norman will work alongside OWN Television President Robin Schwartz to greenlight programming for the network's late 2009 or early 2010 launch, on what is currently the Discovery Health Channel, available in 70 million homes, reports AdAge.

Ms. Norman will also carry the ultimate responsibility for growing the Oprah brand online, helping Robert Tercek, OWN's president of digital media, to relaunch Oprah.com and the new OWN website.

Ms. Norman was President of MTV for 3 years, where she oversaw celeb-reality franchises such as "The Hills" and "A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila."

"I've always had the utmost admiration and respect for Christina's innovative strategies and management style. She is a proven leader. Her shared values, passion and enthusiasm make her a natural fit for OWN's emerging platforms. We're thrilled to have her," said Oprah Winfrey in a statement.

Scary thought.....

I recently saw an interview with this woman where she openly bragged about "helping to get a new president elected" as the President of MTV. Now she's going to be heading up a network with Oprah Winfrey behind it? Wow....that's scary....now someone PLEASE tell me that there's no liberal bias in the media?
