Redmond, Wash. - Microsoft (NASD: MSFT) said on Thursday that a million of its Xbox Live Gold online game service subscribers have now downloaded and activated an application that lets them stream movies and TV shows from online DVD rental service Netflix (NASD: NFLX).

The company added that, in less than three months, Xbox Live users have watched 1.5 billion minutes of movies and TV episodes.

The service is available at no additional cost to Xbox Live Gold subscribers who are also Netflix unlimited members.

Microsoft counts more than 17 million Xbox Live subscribers worldwide, while Netflix reports 9.4 million subscribers.
