Huffington Post Makes History at Obama Press Conference

Washington - A reporter for the left-leaning Huffington Post made history earlier this week when he became the first member of an Internet-based news organization to be called upon during an official White House press conference.

The reporter, Sam Stein, asked whether Obama supported Sen. Patrick Leahy's proposal to establish a committee to "investigate the misdeeds of the Bush administration."

Obama replied that he hadn't seen the proposal, and therefore didn't want to "express an opinion on something that I haven't seen."

All told, Obama took questions from 13 different reporters during his maiden press conference as President.

The event, however, has sparked debate about whether the new administration should continue to give more credence to nontraditional news outlets.
