Boulder,
Colo. - Disney (NYSE: DIS) has acquired
Kerpoof, a developer of children's online entertainment content, for an
undisclosed sum, TechCrunch reported.
Founded in 2006 Boulder, Colo.-based Kerpoof offers an image-based interface that lets kids make artwork, animated movies, and printed cards and t-shirts, tell stories, and vote on the creations of other users. Most of the features on Kerpoof are free, but memberships are available that offer a virtual item marketplace, unlockable characters, additional songs and the ability to purchase movies. Disney has already integrated Kerpoof's technology on its Disney characters site. Kerpoof.com is expected to maintain its standalone website.
