Slicethepie Raises $1.4 Million for Fan-Financed RecordingsAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on February 19, 2009 - 9:16am.
London
- Slicethepie, an online fan-financed recordings community, has raised about
$1.4 million in new funding from a group of private investors, Billboard
reported.
U.K.-based Slicethepie lets artists upload songs and create a profile, which users then earn money by rating and creating constructive reviews. Fans may then make investments in a particular band, and once they raise about $21,000, it goes toward the recording of an album. Slicethepie recently provided financing for its twenty-second artist, while over 30 other artists are currently raising funds. The company will use the funds to seek commercial partnerships and further provide marketing support for artists using the site.
