- China Central Television (CCTV), the country's state-owned broadcaster, plans
to set up an online TV channel "under the directions of the central leaders
of the Chinese government," Variety reported. The State Administration of
Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) said the site aimed "to seize the higher
ground on Internet video" in a country with a reported 173 million Web
video viewers.
