Stockholm, Sweden - Stardoll, a Sweden-based online entertainment site for young women, announced on Monday that it has merged with Piczo, a San Francisco-based online publishing platform for teens.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 2004, Piczo claims over 30 million registered users, mostly in the U.S. or U.K., for its service that helps teens build and customize their own Web pages.

Stardoll, which claims more than 27 million members worldwide, provides a virtual dress-up game for girls, as well as social networking elements.

The companies said that Stardoll, Piczo, and Paperdollheaven.com -- launched by Stardoll in December to target younger girls -- will form the Stardoll Network, which is expected to reach a combined total of more than 20 million people per month, mostly in the tween and teen age groups.

Following the merger, Piczo.com will continue to be run as an independent part of the Stardoll Network.
