Apture Lands $4.1 Million for Pop-up Link Publishing ToolsAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on March 17, 2009 - 7:33am.
San Mateo,
Calif. - Apture, a developer of
technology that enhances user communication for publishers and bloggers through
in-text media links, announced on Tuesday that it has raised $4.1 million in
its first round of funding, led by Clearstone Venture Partners.
San Mateo, Calif.-based Apture's platform is already being used by publishers including the Washington Post, New York Times, Reuters and BBC. The platform lets publishers embed links to third-party sites that appear as pop-up Web pages on the original publisher's site, so a user may view the content without leaving the page. In addition to a solution for larger publishers, Apture also offers a basic free version of its platform for bloggers and smaller sites.
