Washington - The Entertainment Software Association (ESA), a trade group of U.S. video game developers and publishers, announced on Thursday that, despite the economic downturn, it has already sold 90% of the exhibition space available for the upcoming E3 Expo.

The event, to be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center from June 2-4, has signed up over 100 exhibitors and is "on-track to meet its attendance expectation of 40,000," the ESA said.

The annual video game trade show had been significant scaled back in recent years, from some 60,000 attendees in 2006, to around 5,000 in 2007, when the event was moved to more modest accommodations in Santa Monica, Calif.

This year's event will return to the more spacious Los Angeles Convention Center. The ESA said that exhibitors will also be offered bigger booths.
