- Buzznet, the operator of a network of pop culture websites that draw 40
million monthly unique users, announced on Thursday that it has raised $12.5
million in new financing, and changed its name to Buzz Media.
Focus Ventures led the investment round; previous backers Anthem Ventures, New Enterprise Associates, Redpoint Ventures and Sutter Hill Ventures also participated. Los Angeles-based Buzz Media operates sites including Celebuzz, Buzznet, the Superficial, SocialiteLife, What Would Tyler Durden Do, Stereogum, Idolator, Just Jared and Absolute Punk. The company will use the funds for continued growth of its portfolio of pop culter sites.
