New York - Time Warner's (NYSE: TWX) AOL is planning to reorganize its struggling Platform-A ad unit within the next few weeks, according to an internal memo published by the blog AllThingsD.

Greg Coleman, a former Yahoo executive who was hired in early February to replace Lynda Clarizio as the president of Platform-A, outlined a simplified structure that will "better align our sales force and get more people on the street selling."

It includes an expanded sales team for the New York region, the disbanding of the unit's Property and Category sales teams and the launch of a new Marketing Solutions organization, combining current Strategy, Marketing and Property Sales Development teams.

"I realize that these are widespread changes, but they are necessary for us to succeed," wrote Coleman.

"There will be a transition period of several weeks where we will provide more structural clarity and displaced individuals will be able to interview for open positions."
