Los Angeles
- The two co-founders of MediaDefender, an anti-piracy firm launched in 2000
and now owned by ArtistDirect, have resigned from the company, TorrentFreak
reported. Co-founders Randy Saaf and Octavio Herrera sold MediaDefender for $43
million in 2005 to ArtistDirect, a music marketing and commerce network. MediaDefender
provides record labels and movie studios with services such as seeding file-sharing
networks with fake media files, as a means of deterring downloading.
