Buzz Watch: Will Dante's Inferno Be Any Better Than Tomb Raider?

So far, movies based on video games has not been a successful genre. Today, EA and Starz Media’s Film Roman announced the production of a feature-length animated movie based on epic poem Dante’s Inferno – one that will expand on the story told in the game of the same name being released by EA in 2010. Maybe animation, based on an epic tale, is a better way to go for creating a movie based on a video game, even if you have Angelina Jolie in the live-action movie. Co-produced by EA and Film Roman, the movie will feature animation from different studios to depict each of the nine circles of Hell. Starz Media’s Anchor Bay Entertainment will hold exclusive worldwide home entertainment distribution rights to the movie, with Starz Media’s Worldwide Distribution group handling international television and domestic syndication sales and Starz Digital Media responsible for global digital distribution. If it will be a hit remains to be seen, but the trailer (enbedded above) sure looks cool.
