Los Gatos, Calif. - Online DVD rental service Netflix (NASD: NFLX) has exacted a 20% price hike for now 10% of its subscribers who choose to receive their movies on Blu-ray rather than DVD, citing the need to purchase additional copies of more-costly Blu-ray titles. The company added a $1 per month blanket surcharge on subscription plans when it first introduced Blu-ray. The new hike will equate to an extra $1 per month for subscribers who have one DVD out at a time, with a two title cap per month, to an extra $9 per month for subscribers who have 8 DVDs out at a time and unlimited monthly rentals.
