- U.S. Ringback tone sales are projected to climb 15% this year, to $235
million, according to a projection from performing rights organization BMI,
which represents songwriters and music publishers. BMI estimated that more than
10 million Americans currently subscribe to ringback tone services, which have
an industry-wide average penetration rate of around 4%.
