Los Angeles - HitFix, a start-up entertainment news and analysis website, announced on Wednesday that it has raised $950,000 in its first round of financing, from female-focused angel fund Golden Seeds, and private investors.

Los Angeles-based HitFix's management and editorial teams includes former executives and writers from Reed Business Information, MSN Movies, Ain't It Cool News, Zap2it and Billboard.

"HitFix fills a real gap between the industry trades and gossip sites, in rich insider content augmented by the experience of our editorial team," said CEO Jennifer Wilhelmi Sargent.

In addition to covering film, TV, music and sports, HitFix offers Forecast, a calendar application that automatically populates a 7-to-30-day outlook of national and loval entertainment events.

The company said it will generate revenue through ad sales and lead generation, with affiliates including Fandango, StubHub and Amazon.
