Washington - CTIA, the nonprofit membership organization representing the wireless communications industry, said that Mark Desautels, its vice president of wireless Internet development, died suddenly on Monday while attending the group's trade show in Las Vegas. Desautels, 56, suffered an apparent heart attack. Steve Largent, the president and CEO of the CTIA, called him "a dear friend and valuable colleague to all of us here at CTIA and to many in the wireless industry." Desautels joined CTIA in 1998, with the primary responsibility of overseeing the activities of the Wireless Internet Caucus. He also developed the educational sessions and selected speakers for the association's two annual trade shows.
