San Francisco
- Google's (NASD: GOOG) YouTube is in talks to license full-length Sony Pictures (NYSE: SNE) films for
streaming on the site, CNET News.com reported, citing sources familiar with the
negotiations.
Sony Pictures is already streaming more than 60 feature films on
Crackle.com, the video site it acquired for $65 million in 2006, and has
previously licensed films to other websites such as Hulu and AOL.
CNET
speculated that a deal wouldn't include more than 15 or so Sony films, which
would not be embeddable for viewing outside of YouTube.com.
YouTube recently
licensed TV clips from Disney, and is reportedly in talks to add full TV
episodes.
