Tokyo - The Sony (NYSE: SNE) PlayStation
3 outsold the Nintendo Wii in Japan
for the first time in 16 months in March, Reuters reported, citing sales data
calculated by Japanese magazine Enterbrain.
The PS3 sold 146,948 units compared
to 99,335 for the Wii; Microsoft's (NASD: MSFT) Xbox 360 sold 43,172 units.
Enterbrain said
the sales jump for Sony was likely fueled by the release of Sega Sammy's
"Ryu Ga Gotoku 3" and Capcom's "Resident Evil 5" for the
PlayStation 3.
