- JiWire, a provider of advertising through a network of 25,000 Wi-Fi hotspots,
said on Wednesday that it has raised $11 million in a new round of funding, led
by Panorama Capital.
New investor Comcast Interactive Capital and previous investor DFJ Frontier also participated. The San Francisco-based company said that its ads help marketers reach more than 20 million people a month using their laptops and smart phones at places such as airports, hotels, cafes and cruise ships. "People expect to have Internet access anywhere and advertisers are looking for new ways to connect with an increasingly mobile audience," said Kevin McKenzie, the founder and CEO of JiWire.
