YouTube Now Selling Ads Against 9% of U.S. Video Views

New York - Google's (NASD: GOOG) YouTube is now selling ads against "hundreds of millions of views" every month, representing 9% of all U.S. video views at the site, up from 6% a year ago, the company told AdAge.com. A YouTube spokesman told AdAge the site is actually placing ads against more videos than its nearest competitor -- MySpace parent Fox Interactive Media -- has total video views.

The rise comes in part due to the proliferation of big-name media content through deals hashed out with CBS, MGM and Disney, but YouTube downplays this factor.

"We're not saying we don't want [content deals with big-name media partners]; we're very proud of our agreement with Disney. But we aren't hinging our strategy around it. If it's great for our users, it happens to be good for monetization as well," Shishir Mehrotra, director of product management at YouTube, told AdAge.com.

Media Ads

Good information. In the present economic situation if you are looking to get your message across to people and advertising your business without spending loads of money, then you can opt for traditional outlets like print advertising agencies. These agencies can offer you classified ad space at special discounts. This is also a great opportunity especially if you are setting up a new business or are tight on your advertising budget. When you use a professional ad agency, you tend to receive an early notice of the special offers and prices and also a considerable reduction in the advertising rate for national press. So help your business grow by promoting it in the low priced publications. Use print media to cut your costs and boost your advertising efforts in this growing economic recession.
