New York - CBS Sports (NYSE: CBS) announced on Thursday that users streamed 8.6 million hours of college basketball via its NCAA March Madness On Demand player this year, an increase of 75% over the 4.92 million hours streamed last year. The total number of users was also up, to 7.52 million from 4.76 million a year ago.

As in years past, the first two days of the tournament were the most popular for online viewing, as the most teams are still in the running and many games are played during the workday.

On the first day of the tournament, CBS said it streamed 2.8 million hours of video, compared with 515,000 hours for the semifinal and championship games -- which aired on TV last weekend and Monday night, respectively.

CBS also noted that its "Boss Button" -- a branded, fake office spreadsheet that workplace viewers could click on to hide the video player if the boss walked by -- was clicked on 2.77 million times.
