Big Stage Raises $2.7 Million for 3D Avatar Software

Los Angeles - Big Stage Entertainment, a developer of 3D facial avatar creation technology, said on Tuesday that it has secured an additional $2.7 million in second round funding, from Mission Ventures, Selby Ventures and TechCoast Angels.

The company said its Series B round will remain open for an additional $3.3 million from outside investors until June 8; to date, Big Stage has raised a total of $10.6 million.

Los Angeles-based Big Stage allows users to insert their own likeness onto an animated, 3D avatar, for use in video games, virtual worlds, websites and mobile applications.

Clients include Sony BMG, Lionsgate, Funcom and GGL Global Gaming.

The company will use the new funds to accelerate research and development, and sales and marketing efforts.
