Mark Cuban Leads $1.35M Round for SMaSh TechnologiesAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on April 21, 2009 - 7:37am.
Pittsburgh,
Penn. - SMaSh Technologies, a
developer of advanced text messaging technology, has raised $1.35 million in a
new financing round led by entrepreneur and Dallas Mavericks NBA team owner
Mark Cuban.
Seed-stage investment group Innovation Works, and inventor Dr. Ihor Lys also participated in the round. Pittsburgh-based SMaSh's platform enables mobile applications based on SMS, such as menu-based information navigation, multiple-touch interactions, reminders, and sharing of messages. "SMaSh fuels a way to get more out of text messaging by eliminating many of its traditional constraints -- essentially, enabling cookies for mobile," said Mark Cuban. "What I like is that consumers don't need to change a thing about their phones, and they still benefit from engaging mobile applications."
