PlaySpan Acquires Micropayments Firm Spare Change

San Francisco - PlaySpan, a provider of micropayment processing for online games, virtual worlds and social networks, announced on Tuesday that it has acquired Spare Change, a provider of micropayment services on social networks.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

In addition to in-game transactions, San Francisco-based PlaySpan also provides payment processing for over 1,000 games through its PayByCash unit and Ultimate Game Cards, available in 21,000 retail locations.

The company said that the combination of Spare Change with its existing businesses "creates an impressive and unequaled microtransactions and micropayments solutions provider for developers and users worldwide that includes over 80 payment methods covering 190 countries."
